Interview with Benjamin Bracq
The development and training of young talents is also a key issue at Blue Cap. In this Blue Cap Insights article, we would like to introduce Benjamin Bracq. Benjamin joined Blue Cap as an intern and is now an integral part of our M&A team as an analyst. In this interview, he talks about his career start and what he particularly likes about our group of companies.

Thank you for giving us an insight into your start at Blue Cap. Why did you decide to do an internship with us last summer?
I already had a strong interest in company valuations during my studies. As part of my master's thesis, I developed an investment tool that values listed companies and graphically shows the assumptions behind the current market price. At Blue Cap, I saw the opportunity to carry out in-depth company analyses on the one hand and to gain insights into the decision-making processes of experienced colleagues in potential transactions on the other - for example, what reasons speak in favor of an investment, what makes a deal attractive or why a company might be less interesting for us.
Has this internship influenced your personal career development? Are there any projects or experiences that you particularly enjoyed?
Right at the beginning of my internship, my goal was to move to a permanent position as an analyst at Blue Cap. I liked that because it gave me a clear perspective for my development. In my day-to-day work, I was fully integrated into the portfolio and investment team right from the start and was also involved in on-site meetings with the portfolio companies. This gave me a quick overview of the respective topics and processes in the portfolio companies.
What tasks and projects do you particularly enjoy here?
For me, the combination of two things is exciting: on the one hand, the quantitative analysis of companies, their figures and financial modeling. And on the other hand, looking at softer factors such as markets, product portfolios and underlying trends. This means I'm always learning something new and have the opportunity to regularly familiarize myself in detail with certain industries and sectors. This helps me to constantly broaden my horizons and skillset. My highlight during the internship was that I was able to build a financial model for an investment case.
Why would you recommend Blue Cap as an employer for young talents?
The most important point for me is certainly that I felt that I was in very good hands here from the very beginning, both personally and professionally. My tasks give me the opportunity to develop further. At the same time, I receive support from the team and regularly receive valuable feedback.
In addition, the lean and agile team structures make it possible to take on responsibility early on, acquire a broad range of knowledge and work on many different areas of responsibility. "Learning on the job" is a good keyword here. This is complemented by external further training, which enables me to expand my area of expertise, sharpen my CV and expand my network.
